2,625 cases filed for violating traffic rules

DHAKA : In a daylong drives on Tuesday, the Traffic Division Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 2,625 cases on charges of traffic rules violation, said an official release.
Police in its simultaneous drives on the city streets also realised Taka 21.49 lakh as fine.
Of the cases, 240 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 62 for using hydraulic horn, nine for using hotter and beckon light and 10 others for using tinted glass, it also said.
Some 81 cases including 43 video cases were lodged against drivers of different modes of vehicles on charges of talking over mobile phone while they were driving.
Police also filed cases against 786 motorcycles and seized 34 others for traffic rule violations.
It also dumped 40 vehicles and wrecked 504 others.
